Volunteer with Scouts

We're here to get young pepole going, get thinking and get stuck into all kinds of things that will give them skills for life. Every now and then that may well mean using a compass, but more often than not it’s about confidence, speaking up and going for it. Can you help?

Giving back will improve your wellbeing, equip you with skills for the future, and help you make a positive impact on the lives of young people.

At Scouts we celebrate difference and welcome everyone. Whatever your background, identity or ability, there’s a volunteer spot with your name on it.

Volunteering can be a brilliant way to boost your mental wellbeing. It’s a great feeling knowing you’re helping young people get skills for life, and you might even learn a lot about yourself along the way.

There are lots of ways you can get involved

Scouts can make you feel good in other ways too. We’ll guide you to an opportunity where you’ll:

  • Make friends and meet people
  • Try new things and challenge yourself
  • Get outdoors and get stuck in
  • Positively impact your community
  • Create vital opportunities for young people
  • Make memories that’ll last a lifetime

There are lots of ways you can get involved, from helping out occasionally on a parent rota or volunteering your time as a leader to supporting local Scouting. Our volunteering opportunities are as varied as you! Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the local village hall, organising a night away, or buttering 120 slices of bread for a group of very hungry eleven year olds – no two Scout meetings are the same. The difference you make, though, is always great.

If you can only occasionally help, that’s OK. Whether you’d like to be an activity planner, tea-maker or craft creator, we appreciate any time you can spare.

Our award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouts as young people. Our approach focuses on what you want to get out of volunteering with Scouts, while respecting how much time you can offer. Over 90% of Scout volunteers say that their skills and experiences have been useful in their work or personal life.

We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to help us support the children in our area, and would ask you to complete the form at the bottom of this page.

Fancy it?

Whether you want to work with young people directly or help out behind the scenes, there's something for everyone at Scouts.
