Call for Donations and Volunteers – Bridge of Allan Highland Games

Date: 15th Jun 2026 Author: GroupScoutLeader

15/6/2026 – Dunblane Scouts needs donations of anything that comes in a bottle and volunteers to run our bottle stall at the Bridge of Allan Highland Games on Sunday 2, August, 2026. All funds raised go towards equipment, tents, supplies, and making sure we can continue to offer great experiences.

The Bridge of Allan Highland Games are traditional Highland Games competition and have all the events you would expect. We have a full athletics programme, heavyweight competition, cycling, wrestling, in excess of 200 highland dancers and one of the largest pipe band competitions in Scotland.

Bridge of Allan is one of Scotland’s premier Highland Games, attracting crowds of between 8,000 and 10,000 people. The games field nestles between Stirling Castle – Scotland’s grandest historic attraction, the beautiful Ochil Hills and the National Wallace Monument, made famous by the blockbuster movie, Braveheart.

What we’re after

Anything that comes in a bottle — and we mean anything! Wine, beer, gin, whisky, brandy… but also ketchup, mayonnaise, hot sauce, shampoo, shower gel, shaving foam, soft drinks… if it pours or squeezes and comes in a bottle, it’s fair game. Yes, champagne might raise a bit more excitement (and cash), but we’re just as happy to receive that mysterious, unopened bottle sitting quietly at the back of your kitchen or bathroom cupboard.

Key rule: unopened and within date (where relevant), please!

How to donate: Please bring your bottles along to any section meeting between now and the end of term.

We also need volunteers on the day!

To run the stall, we’re looking for both adults and young people to don their 4th/85th uniform and help sell tombola tickets at the stall for 2-hour “shifts” from 09:00 – 17:30. You do not need to help the whole day, but a 2-hour slot would make a huge contribution – we promise it will be fun.

Adults and young people attending as volunteers to run the stall will get free entry on the day. Remember to wear your uniform!

If you’d like to sign up as a volunteer, please get in touch with the fundraising team on fundraising@dunblanescouts.com

So… have a quick rummage — your spare shampoo or unopened sauce could be just what we need!

Thank you (and happy bottle hunting!),
4th/85th Dunblane Scouts Fundraising Team
